Our Story

Established in 2004, we are proud to be one of the leading providers of low-cost sterilization and wellness services in the region. Our mission is to promote responsible pet ownership by offering affordable and accessible spay/neuter, vaccination, and wellness services to pet owners.

Our dedicated team of experienced veterinarians and staff are committed to delivering high-quality care to each and every pet that comes through our doors. With over 5000 square feet of space with kennel areas for up to 80 animals. On average, we perform 8000 spay and neuters per year, making a significant impact on the number of unwanted animals in our community. At Central Spay Neuter and Wellness Clinic, we believe that every pet deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare, and we are dedicated to providing just that.

Ashley Chalfant

Clinic Owner

Ashley grew up in Kernersville and graduated high school at East Forsyth. She traveled to New York state for college where she studied equine science and management at Morrisville State College. New York winters were not her favorite at all so she came back home after. Knowing at a very young age she wanted to work with animals she started working in the animal field at 16 years old and has not left it. Growing up with dogs, cats, cockatiels, hermit crabs and any other critters she could bring home, animals have always been in her life. She was a certified teacher of therapeutic horseback riding lessons and also did able bodied lessons as well. She has experience in many different animal places including full service veterinary clinics, rescues, shelters, boarding, and spay/neuter clinics.

Ashley has been at Central Spay Neuter and Wellness Clinic for 10 years. She has been a vet assistant, customer service representative, and office manager. When it was brought to her that the current non-profit was withdrawing their work it was of no surprise she started a non-profit to keep the clinic running as it has for around 30 years. June 1st 2021, Nothing But Luck, Inc. was formed and took over the inner workings of the clinic with Ashley as President. She is still involved heavily at the clinic and there for daily operations.

She has a wonderful, very soon to be wife, Christine and two great step children that have been by her side for 12 years. She has two German Shorthaired Pointers Jolene and Wynonna that keep her busy. There is also Wilma the Cattle Dog and Gertrude the Pomeranian they share a home with. Ashley shows Wynonna in conformation, dock diving, and fast-cat. Jolene was retired from dock diving due to medical issues but still loves to practice and do Fast-cat on and off. Jolene won the Senior Elite championship at dock diving nationals for Ultimate Air Dogs in 2018. Ashley enjoys traveling in her motorhome no matter how big or small the adventure is.
